COVID-19 Factsheet

The outbreak of COVID-19 has occasioned the spread of false information on the subject and since the first step in combating the virus is to inform, we would be releasing a weekly fact sheet that provides verified, fact-based information for immediate consumption and for future reference. 


Issue #10

As the world is still trying to fight the virus, countries have undertaken anti-body tests on a larger scale to determine the extent of the viral pandemic. There may be positive news regarding vaccine development as Russia has started manufacturing a vaccine. UN independent human rights experts called on countries to lift or ease sanctions to allow nations to access vital supplies to fight against the pandemic.

Issue #9

Nigeria eases the lockdown further by permitting the operation of commercial airlines and interstate travel. China approves the first COVID vaccine for use, while more vaccine trials are taking place with some countries already purchasing vaccines for it citizens.

Issue #8

Ghana issued guidelines for the reopening of schools, Nigeria further eases the lockdown and permits religious gatherings. New Zealand and Tanzania have declared COVID-free. Germany approved a reduction of value-added tax. Antibodies have been found in Italy and the U.S.

Issue #7

Both Ghana and Nigeria are experiencing exponential growth in new cases. Scientists in China are building a vaccine and they are 99% sure it will work. The WHO has temporarily suspended the use of hydroxychloroquine. Ivory Coast has become one of the first African countries to reopen schools. New Zealand hasn’t recorded a new case in 7 consecutive days.

Issue #6

Both Ghana and Nigeria are reacting from easing the lockdown. The African Center for Disease Control deployed personnel to help fight the virus in Nigeria. There is a proclaimed herbal cure from Madagascar. European countries are lifting the lockdown and Slovenia has proclaimed an end to the virus.
